You may know Carrie Rachel Brownstein (born September 27, 1974) from her band Sleater-Kinney or you’ve seen her on playing various characters on the IFC original sketch show, Portlandia. She is a musician, model, writer, actress, director, and comedian. I first knew her for being a vocalist for the rock band Sleater-Kinney in I don’t know in early 2003. Brownstein got her start with the band Excuse 17. In, 1994 she would eventually join the band Sleater-Kinney, the band had success for 10 years in the “indie music” scene until they went in hiatus in.2004.While Sleater-Kinney was on hiatus Brownstein formed the band Wild Flag(they kinda pick up where Sleater- Kinney left off) Brownstein wrote a book about her life as a musician so Sleater-Kinney reunited in 2015. They are still playing shows and released an album a new months ago. Brownstein balances her life as a musician and her life as an actress quite well. She has seen as an important part riot grrl" music and sketch comedy.
