As the eighth annual Bumblefest comes to another successful close, the festival reminds locals and visitors just how important the Florida music scene is.
West Palm Beach- 6 venues. 40 bands. Nearly sprained ankles.
It’s not a punk show per se, but it’s the spirit of one. The 500 block of Clematis Street is coming alive for one last massive go-around as the cafes and venues buzz with the unbeatable enjoyment of an amp’s hum and later into the night, the pure joy that comes from watching local bands play to friends, fellow bands and the new ears that are experiencing these bands for the first time.
And that’s what it truly comes down to: the ability to showcase how diverse, deep and passionate the Florida music soil is and has always been. From punk, to rock, to dreampop; alternative, indie and goth-rock, there is something for even the most picky of tastes because there is music everywhere. In the cobbles, in the alleyways and on the rooftops as the stars seem to even echo back the ambition.
Purehoney Magazine’s Bumblefest pulls off the near impossible with a pretty beautiful explosion of appreciation, sounds and most importantly, the love of good local bands. And there’s not much more you can ask for.
We look forward to next year and another experience of new music in our pockets and dancing ears...
