How I met Billie Eilish
I forced my family to go to the March for our Lives as we were in Boston at that time. My mom and my sister didn't want to go, we didn't plan on spending the day in Boston because we stayed in Plymouth. But for me, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity because I already knew that demonstrations in America are big... like really big. We don’t have demonstrations like that in Germany. In Germany, the biggest demonstrations are probably like 200 or max. 500 ppl. Anyways so I forced them to go because I really wanted to take pictures.
So we were at the march and I was all excited, I took pictures of the best signs I could spot in the crowd. I mostly asked the owners for their permission and some people even wanted to be in the picture. You could really say that I was in my element.
I was completely focused as someone tapped me on my shoulder. A girl looked at me and said “You are SO beautiful” and I knew she meant it. I was really perplexed because she was so freakin beautiful. Like so beautiful that I was totally intimidated. I didn't know what to say because what do you answer to a compliment, and what do you answer to a compliment by someone who looked like a model. I just began a little to stutter and said “thank you so much” and “I love your hair” because one really strong feature that I noticed was that her eye and hair color matched and that looked really awesome. I think my sister also complimented her but I don’t remember. I just remember that my mom and sister were equally shook by her looks as I was. She went back to her people and I remember my sister saying that she looked like she was famous or something because ordinary people never look that good and have her kind of style. She was wearing all that designer stuff, I think Louis Vuitton. Anyway, we were shook because of her. We went home and life went on.
Two or three months later, we were long back in Germany by then, was when my sister tagged me in an Instagram post. She was like “ain’t that the girl who told you that you’re beautiful?”. I watched the Video, it was the Genius interview of Billie Eilish explaining Idontwannabeyouanymore. I was like, okay she looked familiar this really could be her. So I googled her and I learned through Wikipedia that she was from Los Angeles. So I told my sister “Nah it can't be she's not from Boston”. But I was curious because she really looked like that girl, so I googled Billie Eilish and Boston and there was a tweet of her saying that she will be at the March in Boston. Due to her tour, she was currently in Boston at that time. I stalked her on Instagram and saw that it really was her cause she posted a picture at the March.
I was all excited and I was like “Mom, remember the girl that told me I was beautiful” and she immediately said yes. Which I thought is funny because not only me but all my family remembered her. And that's unusual cause many people on the street compliment me, especially in America and I don’t remember most of them. But we all remembered her. Probably because of her looks, it doesn't happen that often that you meet people as good-looking as her and she really impressed all of us.
Anyways so I started looking up her music on YouTube and well I really liked it. We all did. So long story short, now I really love her and her music. A funny thing is that sometime later I noticed that she literally was my screensaver a year ago because of a picture I found on Tumblr and I thought she was like a Tumblr model or something. I would have never thought that I would ever meet her in person. So technically Billie Eilish was the one who introduced me to her music because without her approaching me I probably never would have known her or her music and her music helped me through a lot lately.
