The dishes were presented nicely and also tasted delicious.
The Towne 900 Boylston Street Boston, MA. 02115
All of the entrees looked delicious, however, a little pricy. It was a delectable taste of wood fired meat despite the detail of not being cooked enough.

The Towne Restaurant Critic Checklist
1. Food
The overall quality of the food was excellent. Portion size was adequate. Garnish and presentation were very nice. The temperature was not sufficient.
The wood fire gave great taste to the steak and the fries were delicious. I was full after the meal therefore portion size was adequate.
The steak was presented with butter sauce and carrots on top making it visually appealing. I asked for medium well temperature it came out more like a medium rare.
2. Service
Service was overall average. They were very friendly and professional, however the timing and amount of times visiting the table was poor.
The hostess and waiter greeted me with smiles and engaged in small talk.
It took them the longest time to come back to my table to take my order and take any additional requests.
Once there they were happy to take them though.
3. Menu
The menu was very easily decipherable. It was easy to determine what I wanted for each course. It fit the personality of the restaurant very well.
The layout consisted of appetizers at the top and main courses followed by sides towards the bottom.
The salads were easily pinpointed and the main courses were laid out in an order one is accustom to from land to sea. The desert menu was its own separate one entirely.
4. Pricing
The price range was very upscale; the average spend per head was somewhere around 62$
I ordered the steak with a side of fries, which came out to a total of 40$
If I were to have ordered an appetizer and a desert though that price would have gone up by 22$ based on the averages in those categories.
5. Beverage
The wine list was extensive. The wine was presented in a very appealing manner. Beers and mix drinks were presented behind the bar with some individuality to them.
The wine was presented along the wall in cabinets as you ascended the stairs to the dining room.
The assemblage of mix drinks ranged from well-known cocktails to unique ones such as long island ice tea.
6. Ambiance
The ambiance was remarkable décor and lighting added to the effect of the mood. I was able to enjoy my meal even more. The room was properly insulated to provide each table space to hear each other while still maintaining an atmosphere.
The décor consisted of wooden furniture, comfortable chairs, antique mirrors and sheik curtains. The wood gave it the appearance of combining the old and new to create a sort of infusion. The colors red, brown, orange and black were visually appealing. The floor also was a suitable dark color in order to hide spills or dirt showing up. A combination of gray and yellow I believe.
The lighting added to the mood not too bright or dark. It gave the feel of a hip restaurant in the city. Ventilation was evenly placed throughout the restaurant in order to avoid the too cool or too hot feeling.
7. Table Setting
The table was set in a very standard manner one fork on knife on each side of a white plate with a napkin on top. They were spaced evenly in each direction.
Two glasses accompanied the knives on the table. One for wine the other for water. One of the distinct things about the water glass was that it was in the shape of a beaker and had measurements on the side of it.
Other items on the table were the desert and wine list in order to try and up sell the customer.
8. Chairs comfortable
The chairs were appropriately sized and styled in a manner that suited the décor. Along with this they also had a very comfortable feel. I was able to sit and eat without any trouble at all.
The chairs could support a small or large person. They had no armrests. They were a mixture between leather and cushion.
9. Linen/Paper type
The napkins were white linen and the table was neatly organized.
White napkins are more visually appealing than black napkins they give up the ability to still appear clean on a desert course
The table presentation is visually appealing while also not too cluttering allowing significant space for appetizers, bread, and drinks.
10. Checkrooms available
The checkrooms are located behind the hostess stand on the first floor. They are easily accessed and conveniently placed.
Not only not only a hostess watches the checkroom, but a manger at all times. It is organized and quick to return your jacket.
The checkroom is conveniently placed if you are exiting out onto the main road, however if you were to exit from a side door heading for the mall across the way you must back track inside once you have your coat.
11. Restrooms
The restrooms are clean, supplied and accessible. The size of them for the restaurant is just ok. The décor is appropriately sized for the space allotted to bathrooms.
The restrooms are all located on the right hand side of the restaurant if you enter from the street. There are two one for the first floor and one for the second. I stopped in there twice and each time they were adequately stocked with the appropriate material. They are easily accessed, but not so easily found. I had to ask someone before I could find it.
The restroom size seemed very small for the restaurant. The décor consisted of a few photos each small in proportion.
12. Waiting areas
The waiting area was very comfortable. The bar service was quick and snacks were provided at the bar. There was adequate space to accommodate any size of walk in customers.
The waiting area contained black leather chairs. There were also three bars. Mixed nuts and an assortment of bar snacks were offered.
13. Waiting lines
N/A
14. Flows
The restaurant flowed passably in order to support the flow of customers.
There was generally no wait time. The tables were bussed in less than 5 minutes.
15. Exterior
The exterior was very visually appealing. There were sufficient amount of windows placed throughout the restaurant in order to give it the feel of being outside.
The entrance is clearly distinguishable with signage on either side of the building.
16. Parking
Parking was available through valet and the side street
There was not enough room on the side street.
17. Managed Did you receive value for what you paid?
I did not get the value I paid for. The food was excellent and the restaurant itself exquisite. The service however was lacking for the price they demanded.
18. Improvement Do you have any suggestions for improvement?
The restaurant will need to make improvements on their service in order to gain a 4 star ranking.
