i think that most people who hate moffatt don't realize he's written some of the best episodes of new who (and that's not just my opinion). that he was chosen to succeed RTD for a reason. yes, he has his flaws-- a lot of them, actually but he is overall a terrific writer with a terrific mind. perhaps if people offered constructive criticism instead of just hating on him, he would improve.
^THIS
I keep pointing out to people that the Moffat episodes from the RTD era stood out from the rest. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances? Blink? SITL/FOTD? These are all Moffat episodes. And don’t get me started on how tight Season 5 was.
Seriously, people should STOP transferring their hate/dislike of Moffat to the show. Moffat’s work as a writer stands for itself. He is a brilliant writer; he keeps on reinventing elements of DW to make it more smart and more sci-fi. As a writer, Moffat demands that the audience think and wonder. He is great at looping stories around each other. Not to mention that he has also created strong, independent female characters (who are not perfect and are downright problematic at times) BUT THEY ARE STRONG, INDEPENDENT, AND INSPIRING CHARACTERS NONETHELESS.
Bottom line: There should be a decoupling of what Moffat writes and what Moffat is as a person. Moffat may say sexist/inappropriate/politically incorrect remarks during interviews, and may even (unintentionally) slip some of these stuff in the script, but there is so much more than that in what he writes. I’m not saying we should overlook sexism / inappropriateness /politically incorrectness, but can we just for once focus on the episode per se and not on the author? Just once, can we focus on Moffat’s ability to tell a tale and craft a story without involving his personal life and beliefs? Because once we do this, we cannot deny this fact: Moffat episodes are often good great unforgettable episodes.
also dude hOW DO U COLOR COORDINATE UR POSTS I CANNOT DO THAT HOW DO U DO IT WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS EVERYTHING LOOKS SO CLEAN AND ORGANIZED AND COLOR-COORDINATED MY OCD SENSES R HAPPY
BLESS YOU FOR APPRECIATING!!! This color-coding thing is a pretty recent development, actually. I just needed a sense of order in my life, so this happened. And THEORETICALLY, having a pre-determined color to work with will limit my palette for graphics and FORCE me to innovate using that and that palette alone. Well, THEORETICALLY.

A note on AUs:
Writing an AU that ignores/makes secondary the setting negates the very purpose of an AU. An AU is a story that happens because of the setting. Writers (and readers) must ask themselves: Can this story still happen in any time period? What is so important that it happens during this era?
To writers, if there's no reason why your characters should be in an AU, don't write them in an AU. If there's no difference between the characters riding a usual car or their being in a flying car, then don't write an AU. If a story can happen in their default (original) universe, then set it there.
Thanks.
