Every couple months, I go on a tear where I just really delve into my Western, and... it happened again.
I have a running list of actors who could play Horace, my favorite character in my Western. He's the best friend of the MC, and he's based on my dad, me, and my husband for absolute SURE. Horace is an English-born math professor that somehow ended up in Texas in the 1870s, who was solving complex math problems in his head since he was a child, falls in love with literally everyone he meets, is bisexual and autistic (It's not a plot point that he's autistic, other than he just is in my head), is a Libra, and has an off-again, on-again flirtation with the saloon owner in one of the towns he and Oliver (best friend/MC) wander about in. Horace was originally not that much older than Oliver when I started writing, but I find that the more I delve into the story, the more I like Horace being 10-15 years older. The only set timeline is that Horace and Oliver meet after Oliver and Maggie (Oliver's ex-wife/female MC) go their separate ways, because Horace does not KNOW Maggie when they encounter her 10 years after Oliver and Maggie split. It's like, every time I find a new Weird Little Guy, it's just like, "Oh, hey, another actor reference for Horace. The ones that have been bouncing around in my head are Bertie Carvel (the original Horace from the dream that inspired the Western 4 years ago), Daniel Radcliffe, Dan Stevens, and now Anders Holm. (Anders cannot do an English accent, but I'd figure something out. Get an accent coach to whip his butt into shape or something.) BUT! TIL Anders replaced Dan Stevens in a role Dan was originally cast in, so I'm not surprised they gave off the same vibe even to people that aren't me. Ewan McGregor is too old for 10 years from now, but he also gives off the Right Vibe. I guess Horace is handsome and charming in a sort of really nerdy way? If I ever make my Western, I just know Horace will be the Tumblr Sexyman. Rest assured I will make this Weird Little Guy hot as fuck and will not be surprised if anyone inevitably ships him with Oliver. (It's not the canon ship of the story, but I would understand. They've spent 8 or 9 years traveling the Wild West together and wreaking havoc.)
