Kenny Omega Update

While I didn’t do a full blown news post, long day.  I did want to provide something of an update to all of you regarding his status with the Royal Rumble;

He doesn’t have one.

As in, he’s not going to the Royal Rumble.  He won’t be there, and he is committed to getting a deal done with New Japan Pro Wrestling.  Omega laid out several reasons, feeling that NJPW needs him more than the WWE, wanting to win the IWGP title, and not wanting to go to NXT (which is where he’d go).

Why would he go there?  Because Triple H himself has said that AJ Styles and Karl Anderson would be the only two exceptions to the bypassing NXT rule.  Styles even went out and said that it was an amazingly hard transition to make, and that he kind of wished he’d of started in NXT. 

Obviously I doubt Styles really means that, he’s the best worker in the world. He’s toeing the company line.  But Triple H wants people to associate top stars with WWE and not wherever they were.  So NXT is used as a bit of a bath, so-top-speak, to clean off the unwanted “hype” of other companies and etch their own initials on these talents. 

While some (if not all) of you will argue that Omega “deserves” to go to the main roster right off the bat, let me remind you of something, outside of most of the IWC, which isn’t a majority of modern wrestling fans, no one knows who Omega is.  AJ Styles was in front of 1.5 million people for years.  He was known in the American scene for nearly twenty years, competing from the NWA, to WCW to TNA and ROH.  He’s made his rounds. 

Much like Finn Balor, Omega is mostly known for his Japanese stuff and hasn’t been nearly as active stateside as others have. 

To further compound the point, Styles, Anderson and Doc Gallows were all about to sign with TNA in December of last year, and the only way they could really get Anderson and Gallows, who were not seeing much difference in pay despite far more dates, was allowing them to bypass NXT as well. 

While Omega would fit right in with TNA, it doesn’t appear an offer has been made, nor do I think Omega would bail on NJPW to set in with TNA, despite being able to work both promotions if he wished. 

So, to wrap that small part up, no, HHH wouldn’t of had Omega in the Rumble anyway, and he’d of been in NXT for the foreseeable future.  Omega isn’t better than Balor or Nakamura, and if they didn’t pass, he wouldn’t either.

That being said, come tomorrow, I’ll post a video explaining why Omega is right in going to NJPW.  So until then, have a good one.

Controversy Surrounding Last Night's Raw

Michael Moody, son of the late Paul Bearer, commented on Facebook about CM Punk pouring, what was intended to be his late fathers ashes, onto Undertaker to close the show.  Here's what he had to say:

"If anyone is wondering, yes WWE did come to us wanting approval for tonight's storyline. The way it was presented to us was ok. Seeing it on screen was a different story. I don't even know what to say."

Moody's brother Daniel also commented saying:

"Totally different."
