describe your parents (& siblings if u have any)
My mom is a very strong, intelligent, caring person, who I've been told looks a little something like me. She's a bit shorter and her hair's straighter, but I wasn't picked up by the wrong parents at the hospital ;). She's doing her Masters in Communication right now, and despite complications from a concussion two years ago, health problems and other complications with my grandparents, and general day-to-day stresses, she's almost done and I'm really proud of her. I don't know if my friends feel this way in so many words, but she's like a mother to a lot of them. The way that she speaks to them because she genuinely cares about what's going on in their lives and how they're doing/dealing with certain situations, how last night when she heard my vegetarian friend would be over around the time we'd be eating dinner, she made the chicken in a different pan so my friend could eat; I'm really super blessed to have the mom I have, even when I don't want to be around her ;).
My dad is also a very kind and intelligent man. I've heard I look like him too, but not by as many people ;). He edits a fitness magazine, and his dedication to his work really shows through in the final product every time. He needs to take more time for himself, much like my mom. He's very funny, though sometimes it can be hard to tell. He's traditional in the sense that he doesn't like swearing and doesn't appreciate it in the house or presence of women or children. His family means the world to him, and it broke my heart to see him cry and hear the words he spoke at his father's funeral. He was raised well and I like to think he raised me well too. One time, we saw a truck run over a baby duck trying to cross the road with his mother, and that was one of the only times I've seen him swear. He was so upset by it and with the driver, that he swore. He also had it on his mind for the next week, which I think had to do with his compassion and fatherly nature. With the increase of his involvement with the magazine, he's started to take part in triathalons and cycle everyday. He doesn't quite understand why vegetarian meals don't have meat in them, but he did order a burger salad the other day (lol #healthy). No but really he's getting healthier and it makes me feel like the fatty of the house haha. He's protective of his little girl and also of my other friends, and all of the guys I've brought home have been scared of him.
My brother's name is Luc and he's 5 years older than me. He's one of the best writers I know, with a huge imagination. He's got a passion for film and I honestly believe if he tried he could make it big in the industry, as a writer or director. The problem is that he's scared of failing and he's also too headstrong to ever admit he's wrong or has an issue. In life, he doesn't really take the easy path; whatever it is, if he gets there, it'll be through his own way. He's also really into sports, and can tell you the stats of people in the CFL, NFL, and NHL like that. Basically, he's a passionate person. If he doesn't like something, he doesn't do it, even if he has to. If he does like something, he loves it. He might not immediately go for it, but the passion is there. Because of our age gap, we didn't really fight much as we were younger. We wrestled, but I mean.. duh? He's my big brother haha. I remember the first time he saw me with makeup on, it was for a play and he told me after "you look very grown up, but you're never to wear that again. Boys are evil." Bless his heart. He's also starting to grow up, which is nice. We don't hang out often, he hasn't lived at home for a while, but we're starting to get closer and I like that. I can't imagine growing up without him, even if he deemed there to be "no signs of intelligent life" in my NNICU ward when I was born, and kinda kept making fun of me ever since.
TL;DR: You asked, I'm not giving you a shorter version, read it dammit.
fave song from a boy band?
While I do love me some 1D, my all-time favourite boyband song would probably have to be BSB's Shape Of My Heart.
what’s a weird movie or tv show that u like?
Amelie is a weird movie, but I don't think it's really weird that I like it. I liked Mystery Team too. I can't actually think of any weird TV shows lol
do you like or dislike school? why?
I like school, when I was younger because it was my main centre for social interaction, now because I find a lot of what I'm learning interesting. I'm really looking forward to starting this school year, because I'm on the path to where I actually want to go now, whereas last year I just picked something I thought could be interesting and went with it. Pros and cons to that approach, haha.
what’s your favourite Queen song?
At the risk of sounding boring, Bohemian Rhapsody; it's a fun song and I sung it in jazz choir in grade 11, so I've got a soft spot for it.
do you believe in afterlife?
I'd like to, yeah.
favourite cartoon from when you were a kid?
Probably classic Looney Toones or Pinky and the Brain.
when was the last time u cried? (tell me to fuck off if thats too personal lol)
My grandparents are both suffering from differing stages and forms of dementia, so that's emotional. It's been especially tough to see my mom dealing with so much, I think that affects me more than the reality of my grandparents' mental health. Along with that, my dog is 13 and he's visibly going downhill and the other night I just thought about losing him and I broke down. Just that that's all happening at once is difficult. Big accumulation of other stuff as well, but seriously, dog's the needle on the haystack.
cake or cupcakes? brownies or cookies?
Cupcakes and cookies. But also cake and brownies. Cupcakes and cookies.
what’s your ideal vacation?
Something where I'm not confined to a strict plan or itinerary, in a place with lots of culture and history. I love the thought of being able to walk down a street and feel there's something special there. Just experiencing that feeling is a strange kind of intimate, no matter how many people are around.
favourite mythology story?
HmmMMMmm, I love the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, and the whole story of her and Persephone. I love the colours that come into my mind when I think of it, and I love how Demeter searched the world and wouldn't give up looking for her daughter. I like how they're so close that they're sometimes considered sister-goddesses, though as my mom and I would agree, lots of "sister" relationships with mother-daughter pairs can be weird. The visual I get when I think of Persephone in the Underworld with Hades is light blooming flowers in a dark, dreary cavern; it's morbidly hopeful, much like the story in some ways.
