okay: akane is the heir to a large yakuza throne and therefore has large sums of money to do whatever with. many people try to assassinate her for it, so akane pays hiyoko to be her bodyguard. hiyoko is a professional swordswoman who often appears on tv and does stunts for movies. she shows off for the public, but is moreso a gremlin who likes money. (but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have some semblance of a heart, she’s less bratty than in canon.) hiyoko protects akane for pay. the two enrolled in hope’s peak academy for separate reasons; akane joined mostly out of boredom, and due to the fact that they have an ultimate chef (and she’s there for that)- while hiyoko joined to practice her sword skills. while they’re there, hiyoko begins attempting to geniunely befriend akane.
in a nutshell: hiyoko protects akane rather than fuyuhiko having to use peko as a tool
