So there was this Zim gardener AU (pls read it, it’s so cute)... and I really thought it was super cute v//w//v And I also saw this dress and it was just... perfect. So I just gave my silly spin on it~ 

Idk, I like him sniffing the plants through his antennae and having something to do to cope with the whole exile thing, and Dib just... being Dib and watching him, more interested in the dress than anything LOL <3 Ahhh ~~ I like the Dib sketches a lot v//w//v

Aw shucks... I'm glad you enjoy my ramblings! Maybe one of these days I'll actually get around to writing those pages and pages about Senketsu's character arc that I've been meaning to do for ages, ahaha...

You know, I see this a lot, but opinions, I don't really think so?

I mean, yeah, David Vincent's performance is definitely different from Toshihiko Seki's, but that's not a bad thing! A dub doesn't have to be a carbon copy of the original in order to be good--in fact, I think it makes it a lot more fun when dubbers make it their own and add their own spin to the characters.

The main complaint about David Vincent as Senketsu's English VA (that I've seen, anyway) is that he's utterly miscast and sounds too young. And yes, Vincent's portrayal of Senketsu certainly does come off as younger than Seki's, but again, I don't think that's a bad thing. Having Senketsu sound more like a teenager than an adult still works for his character.

Because, I mean... Senketsu kinda is something of a teenager. He's young and inexperienced (less than a year old!) and doesn't know who he is or what he's meant to do with his life. He certainly tries to act all wise and profound, but he'll even admit to you that despite all that, he's actually pretty immature.

What Seki's performance does is create a sort of duality. Senketsu sounds older and wiser than Ryuko, and he enjoys acting like he is, too. But he's not. They're both young, they're both learning together, and they're both on the same level. With Vincent as Senketsu, you do lose the funny contrast, but I think it still fits. It just further emphasizes Senketsu's naivety and newness to everything.

And yeah, sure. I woulda loved if we got someone like Logan Cunningham (AKA, the voice in Transistor) to do Senketsu in English, sounding all deep and wise and sexy. But I also like the focus on Senketsu's youth that we get with David Vincent, because I think that's a part of him that's often overlooked.

I also think Vincent was chosen as Senketsu because they were trying to veer away from the "father figure" reading of his character (which, imo, doesn't fit him at all), but that's just me...

Just my two cents.
