My Favorite Headcanon for Hellebore?

Opposing rich families decide to “merge their business ventures” and shove their kids together.

The kids are against it but become friends anyway and “play along” so they can get some freedom to their lives.

Both decide to make a play to enlist in Atlas Academy to further escape their families and help others.

The families reluctantly agree because “it could look good for business” to have their heirs become huntspersons.

Academy changes both of them because they are immediately put on a pedestal by Ironwood and fastlined for the AceOps/Specialist program.

The more the two work together, the more they actually begin to love each other.

It’s short lived, though, as upon graduation they’re both offered Specialist ranks and May opts out after raising concerns of how she’s seen Atlas treat Mantle up close over the last few years.

Winter pushes back saying they can do more good as specialists, May disagrees, words are had between the three, and May leaves for Mantle after her family is called in because of “personal problems with their child” and is subsequently disowned.

May rediscovers former graduate Robyn Hill, the two hit it off after May explains what happened, Robyn proposes an alliance with her, Joanna (who’ve been active for a few years now) and their newest recruit a recent graduate (Fiona).

Some time passes, May finds “herself” and becomes May - The Happy Huntresses are born. (Or, personal preference, the “Very Happy Huntresses” are born.)

Years pass and every so often May and Winter have fleeting moments together when tensions are high between Mantle and Atlas, still not seeing eye to eye. Both wanting the other to see reason and drop what they’re doing and come join the other again.

Then V7 and V8 happen.

After that Winter Maiden Winter Schnee and Defacto Leader of the Happy Huntresses May Marigold meet at their lowest point since graduation, put their personal disagreements aside, help settle the refugees… and then, after weeks of high tension between the two and a lot of awkward glances and moments, they actually finally get together for real.

what's your hc for how raven and summer started realizing their feelings ran deeper? would love to hear more of your rosebird thoughts

hmm... it kinda depends? I have different answers for different scenarios! I tend to lean sometime between 2nd or 3rd year at Beacon, but just after graduation makes sense too.

Raven's very.... emotionally stunted, let's be real. I think more often than not it was Summer who coached her through her emotions and telling her it was okay to feel and not shove it down until she forgot about it, and Raven eventually trusted her enough to come to her when she needed to process things.

as canon Summer is currently a blank slate, my belief is that when she started out at Beacon she was a little shy and awkward and didn’t actually have any friends due to being told not to tell anyone about the powers her eyes possess, to keep it secret and to keep her distance because anyone could be a threat. so when she becomes the leader of team STRQ, the rest of the team becomes her friends, and having actual friendships isn’t something she allowed herself to have before.

so she becomes the self-proclaimed best friend of the girl who has the emotional capacity of a teaspoon, and through patience and earned trust really start to bond and spend time with one another, and enjoying each other’s company. they spar together, Summer helps Raven with not so easy class assignments and reports (the twins were border illiterate before they arrived to beacon, fight me on this), go out to town together, spend nights on the rooftops of the school looking at the stars while Raven complains about the city’s light pollution and tells her stories about the constellations you can see from Mistral..... 

well. once you get close to someone and share all the bits and pieces and secrets from your past and allow yourself to become so vulnerable, sometimes things start to change. And I think Raven noticed those feelings first, and it was so much and complicated, and the one person she always went to to help her sort her fucked up emotions was the very person she felt something for. 

Summer on the other hand took the best friend status very seriously. she admired so much about Raven, always wanted to talk to her, be around her and get closer to her.... but didn’t realize those feelings were a crush. or at least at that point, beyond a crush. Qrow was probably the one to break it to her. 

So Raven’s stressed. Summer’s stressed. They dance around each other awkwardly trying not to make things weirder. It doesn’t work. Neither of them want to destroy what they already have. Qrow and Tai probably lock them in a room together to try and get them to just admit their feelings. 

And they do. It’s a little messy and not perfect, tensions run high until they get the words out.... and then they figure it out, together. Because that’s what they do.

they have non-verbal signals to let the other know how they’re doing. being constantly around other people means they’ve learned how to communicate without saying anything, so a squeeze to the hand or a couple taps on the shoulder help them keep each other grounded and safe

back in beacon, they used to have little “partner” dates. they’d say “we’ve gotta spend one on one time together so that we can get on the same wavelength!” but everyone knew it was more than that. they’d go out to eat, go for walks, or just spend time studying together because neither of them wanted to share each other’s company with anyone else

blake had already ridden on bumblebee before v6. whenever she needed to get places back before the fall of beacon, yang would JUMP at the chances to drive her around and it was definitely not because she loved having blake that close to her. definitely not. nope

and possibly my biggest one,,,,,,, they’re gonna spend time NOT speaking after all is said and done. i don’t mean they’re gonna break up or separate or anything, but i think they’re going to both be pretty messed up over everything and will avoid letting their feelings out in favour of protecting each other. they’ll dance around everything that’s happened until one day they can’t anymore and they’ll share a big catharsis because, after everything, they always find their way back to each other

these are my top four that i will fight to the death over proving are canon!!

1. go to the fandom ur in

2. u gotta click on the character/relationship tag u dont wanna see (for example, uhhh ill click jesse mccree/hanzo for this example. that takes u to this page:

3. now whatchu gotta do is hover ur mouse over the lil RSS Feed button and in the bottom left hand corner you will see a lil pop-up that says something like “archiveofourown.org/tags/RANDOMNUMBERS/feed.atom”

4. REMEMBER THAT NUMBER!!!! now go back to the fandom page and u gotta type into the “Search within results” box this phrase:

-filter_ids:RANDOMNUMBER

where u replace RANDOMNUMBER with the number u got from step 3. in this example it would be

boom. no mchanzo in my search results. this is a catch-all if the characters/relationship is properly tagged --and most of the time they are-- but you might (rarely) see a fic tagged “mchanzo” but not “Jesse Mccree/Hanzo Shimada” - although due to special coding they will later be tag-wrangled by AO3 staff so that you won’t see those results either.

you can also input multiple tags, for example:

now what i like to do so that i dont input this every single time i visit the fandom page is simply enter all of the relationship tags, hit enter, and then bookmark the page as “AO3 Overwatch filtered”
