im pretty sure the reason you find making fun of dabi so easy is, in dnd terms, he put his points into constitution (aka not just. dying), but very little into stuff that would prevent him from needing such a high constitution (though his charisma is pretty good). tldr: his main trait is just not dying, which is a hilarious when your goal is to take down someone as powerful as endeavor (and joined a group formed specifically to fight the most op hero in all of japan)

great minds, i was trying to think of a dnd metaphor earlier but i couldn’t figure out where he put his stats other than rolling some insane nat 20s this arc, but yeah, i think you nailed it.

Dabi’s got a negative strength modifier, a negative dexterity modifier, a negative intellegence modifier, and absolutely a negative wisdom modifier. But he does somehow have a positive charisma modifier, despite possibly smelling like an unbathed burnt piece of bacon and doing exactly nothing to endear himself to those around him. And his con modifier is ridiculously good, especially with how terrible his other ones are.

Dabi: I want to torch the birds, they’re weak to fire.

DM: ok, roll to cast

Dabi: ah. 10.

DM: ... and with your negative two modifier, thats an 8. not enough to do damage.

Dabi: are you kidding me?

DM: well you could have been a sorcerer and put that charisma stat to use, but no! point is you miss and they try to run. Attack of opportunity?

Dabi, sullen: miss. it was a 4.

DM: Don’t worry, i’m sure you’ll manage ridiculous rolls when you’re finally identifying yourself and dancing around, and literally nothing can kill, despite my best efforts, so. you’ll make it to however long that takes.
