Happy Hunting Ground

The road from Neverwinter to Crossroad Keep was safe, well-kept and easy to travel on. Completely not Ophelia’s style.
What was more irritating, midway her journey she realized that despite her quick pace and Haste spell, she might not be able to actually arrive to the Keep before the sunset. So the natural course of action was to simply walk straight into the forest and cut across.
What was the worst that could happen anyway? This area was her home, she knew it! She wasn’t that good at finding directions in the complete wilderness, but only idiots could not find their way if the only requirement was to simply walk forward until she saw Crossroad Keep. Even she should manage that.
Truth be told, she probably would have succeed indeed. The bard simply hadn’t thought of other obstacles than wild animals and bushes. Everything was going well – until she carelessly jumped over a big fallen log.
“WOAAAAH!”
She almost walked into a trap and barely managed to duck to the side, when the metal teeth wanted to clench around her foot. Clumsily, she stumbled to the back – and walked into yet another trap, which this time wasn’t so merciful. Million of strings tangled around her ankles, preventing her to move in any direction – and Ophelia’s eyes widened when she felt that she was falling. With a rather comical yelp.
“What the heeeeeeee–!!!”
Slam!
Blinking, Ophelia tried to imagine how she must’ve looked like, sprawled on the green duff. She came to the conclusion that rather silly. Very silly.
Muttering a string of juicy curses under her breath, she supported herself on her elbows and got up. She casted a nasty glance at her feet, wrapped into a mess of strings and she sat, hands reaching forward to grab the string and free herself. It was then when she realized that somebody was watching her. She looked up – and sighed.
She had a tendency to make herself an idiot in front of handsome men, but it was unusual for her to make herself an idiot in front of a handsome man before she noticed him.
“Well met, beautiful,” she greeted the drow ranger in his own native language. It was clear she was still getting a hold on it, as her Common accent was almost painfully apparent. “If that trap is yours, then, well…” she chuckled and shook her head. “You caught something bigger than a rabbit.”
