Throwback to ‘Epidemiology & Public Health’ Block 🌟 In this block, I had to present on Physical Risk Factors & Hazards of Construction Industry & I must say that it was a great experience. I definitely struggled and learnt a lot.
With that say, I’m definitely look forward to the upcoming semester. New systems to learn & a lot of exams to sit for.
that’s all from me! For more uni/college content, be sure to follow me on Instagram @tasheeniv and @theaaacamedic.
A lil’ bit for Histology for you guys! This time it’s on Thyroid Gland.
Points of Identification:
Fibrous capsule surrounding the follicles.
The follicles are surrounded by follicular cells and filled up with gelatinous colloid material.
The follicular cells are simple cuboidal in shape.
The parafollicular cells are lighter and stained and are situated in the peripheral part of the follicle.
Location:
Midline Structure of the Neck
Function:
This gland secretes iodine containing hormones - Tri-iodo Thyronine (T3) and Thyroxine (T4) of which T3 is more active. It regulates the basal metabolic rate, and is regulated by the pituitary hormone - TSH. It also secretes calcitonin (by the parafollicular cells) which regulates blood calcium levels.
Happy Sunday!
