❛ You say you have a proposal to offer. ❜ Skepticism remains evident in Salazar’s tone. He intends to make it clear he will need to be convinced of this man’s potential. It is risky business, forging alliances over such matters. It is often all too easy for one side to stab the other in the back at the soonest sign that they’ve become too comfortable. ❛ Tell me, why should I be interested? ❜
None of this was panning out as expected -- though by this point in his life that really should have been expected. The only reason he was even here, in London, on the other side of the bloody Atlantic, was to spring Gibbs out of prison, bound to hang under his moniker ( how that had come about, Jack could only guess at ). Now he was being frantically pursued along the capital’s streets, his first mate God knows where, and no navigational charts in his possession, either.
He’d already disembarked from his flaming carriage, ducking into one of the narrow side-streets in the hope that he could lose the small regiment pursuing him long enough to hazard another attempt at getting to the Tower of London. It had to have been where Gibbs was taken, and there was no telling whether his initial ‘ruling’ of a lifetime prison sentence would still be enforced ( the English did like their nooses ).
Turning another corner, it took a moment or two for Jack to bring himself to a complete and abrupt stop, gaze widening as he’d come face-to-face with possibly his current least favourite person in the world. Jaw tightening, he glanced once more at that ridiculous wig, knowing he was cornered -- with no choice left but to talk himself out of this rather than run away.
‟ I see you didn’t take the scenic route, then. ” His eyes flicked to the small group of soldiers at Barbossa’s side. If they moved to restrain him again... The only place that rage showed was in his eyes, however; his characteristic lightness of tone was still there, deliberately goading. ‟ You really should have. A man of your noble standing might have gotten cheers from the crowds as you went by. ”

❝ Your involvement is all because of Jack being one of the Pirate Lords? THAT’S the reason why you’re helping to get him back from the Locker? ❞ Will expects there’s more to it than that, though he’s suspecting only a wish for REVENGE. It’s difficult to instantly trust a man who was their enemy, not too long ago.

one has seen a lot of shit in his lifetime and the other’s dead
One used to be dead back in the 80s, the other is just ‘retro’.
Returns with gold, a rescued baby monkey, and a mystery to solve.~

The sailing had been smooth and that made him happy. No storms and no waves that would cause problems. They found a small port eventually and docked there. He checked things over before making his way on land. They needed supplies and he tasked someone with getting it. Salazar followed behind them to make sure all went well. While looking around and seeing what there was to see.
