4 weeks ago I received a call that led to us agreeing to participate in this #battleofthebells event presented by @GuerillaUnion. I whipped up the flyer with the quickness but then real life happened. For the past 4 weeks i've been on the craziest roller coaster of emotions and events. Funerals, a wedding, an unexpected college acceptance letter, relationships ending and new ones beginning, having to cut people off and fix relationships with others, etc… I wasn't the only one dealing with these issues, my team was too and after everything we've been through it's been Hip Hop that has kept us pushing on. It has kept us together. I believe there's enough of us out there that truly believe about bringing it back to the essence. That type of Hip Hop that speaks to social issues, life lessons, education, knowledge of self, the good times the bad times and everything in between. #TheAchievementGap speaks to that and we'll be performing songs off my debut album tonight. The same songs that you've heard on Shade45, KPFK, KCET, songs that you will soon hear on Pandora and the AMC channel. You won't find a team that works harder than mine especially through the tragedies as of late. We persevere through all adversity, through all naysayers, and we take this very seriously. From our graphic design and promotions to our stage show, wardrobe and music videos, press junkets and in stores, they all have incredibly deep and significant meaning. On behalf of my team #thejtcollective we truly appreciate all of that have been down with us. Regardless of the outcome of tonight's event we'll still be here and we'll still hold it down for Hip Hop. Thank you we love you.
