Hiiiiiiiiii Dark Age fandom I'm back from hollidays and bingeing HARD to catch up while Bards are releasing Gilded Thrones
Currently at chap 27, and so much shit has been happening these past few episode aaaaah
I've really been enjoying this Book so far, bc as someone else (Ican't remember who) said on a post, you can really feel the party strating to fall in love with each other, be it in pairs or as a group. Like, they are really strating to feel like a coherent unit ready to work each other's goals and not only their owns. The fact that they are all sticking together is starting to truly feel organic, which is nice, and we have had soooo many cool RP moments :') (special mention to JB guarding Aelys' sleep, the under the table talk, Synnove and Katari of course, Theagus and his new mission of bringing hope)
Nevertheless, I'm at chap 27 and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
First the whole thing with the Lighthunters was so stressful help
I really liked Dan's roleplay there, I feel like he often tries to get or negociate too much out of interactions, which often leads to Theagus actually getting less, but here I think it really served the scene. Like, Theagus is absolutely DESPERATE to not be separated from the thing that he believes makes him him, to the point that he's ready to sabotage himself by refusing compromise and being thrown in the pit rather than willingly relinquish control ! As JB points out, this is self-destructive behaviour in a way, and it tells a lot about who Theagus is. Ma boy, at his core, has lived all his life as an animal in a people's world, being made to feel like he was less than + that he gained sentience as some kind of trick of fate, or fluke. So OF COURSE, when asked to relinquish what makes him valuable, what allows him to prove that he is not a mistake, he's gonna go maaaad
+ the fact that he put himself in this situation by being overly curious and careless, too focused on the quest of knowledge to think about the politics of the situation. I think that it participates in making the scene hit even harder for me, because bro wants to prove himself so bad, but he made a BIG mistake there, that could also endanger his friends (here's to hoping that he learns the lesson bc that penguin has to stop running his mouth so much x))) )
Anyways, these are only my thoughts on this scene, but I really liked it and I wanted to disect it a little bit \o/
Second, I'm watching the library scene right now. Help. Hareem is so fucking terrifying, and the tension is soooo thick
You can SMELL the feeling of betrayal both from the characters and the players themselves, which is hilarious xD
