From the team that produced one of 2011's biggest anime series AnoHana, Director Nagai Tatsuyuki and Writer Okada Mari brought to the big screen in 2015 a heart-warming coming-of-age story: The Anthem of the Heart: Beautiful Word Beautiful World. Anchored on the power of words, the film showed how Naruse Jun found her voice after being "cursed" as a child. It bravely presented how a third party relationship greatly impacts a marriage, a family, and the children. Anxiety, backstabbing, and bullying were also tackled in this two-hour feature. It had a lot going on, but you wouldn't notice because of the exrcution. I wasn't expecting much since it was a film, but I kept waiting for the same punch that AnoHana delivered. It wasn't until the last part of the film that I started sobbing because of how it all came together. From being inside your own shell to dealing with anxiety and breaking out of that shell, this film shows how complicated communication can be for different people especially teenagers. It also highlights the importance of having a support group that will cushion your every fall. Superb art as expected. Creatively executed musical scoring.
