[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Why does it feel like you’re hiding something from me?
[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Sorry for going through your bags and stealing your condom.
[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Sometimes I wish that you were my mom and not my aunt. I mean, not with my dad obviously because he’s your brother but…
[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Why don’t I have any cousins? I get that it’s not a fair question to ask but if I don’t have siblings I’d at least like a few cousins…
[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Can I come live with you? I hate that mom and dad keep moving me from place to place because of his work. I can’t live like this anymore.
[SMS; Aunt Kate ] Hey, thanks for covering for me with Dad. He just doesn’t get it sometimes.

How they’d gotten onto the subject, Allison couldn’t really remember, but as Erica spoke, all the brunette could do was stare at her, listening to her, and feeling a little sick. That her family had done this to her. That it was her fault she felt like this. Because if Allison hadn’t tracked them, hadn’t shot Boyd full of arrows until her father stopped her, maybe she wouldn’t be feeling like this. She swallowed hard, knowing that this wasn’t about her, and carefully she uncurled herself, hesitantly, before moving next to Erica, sitting down and putting an arm around her shoulders, lightly.
"I’m sorry." She whispered, as though that’d make anything better. Her hand moved to Erica’s hair, running her fingers through it, something her mother’d do when she was feeling sick. Closing her eyes, she just focused on what she was doing. "I never want you to feel like that again. Ever. I’m here, I’m going to fix this… As best I can. Just…. let me help you. Please."
Erica tensed up feeling Allison's arm. It scared her, to be near the girl still, the instinct that she caused harm and could do it was still there. Still, Allison had proved that she was trustworthy, and that she was sorry over what had happened, and Erica could understand that. She leaned into the girls hold and closed her eyes, realxing though everything told her not to.
"I'm... I don't know what you can do, how to help or fix this, I've always had these I guess, and I don't know how to stop it..." She whispered but looked at Allison... "But I'm willing to have you help, maybe its what I need." She whispered.

The realization still hadn’t struck Kate. Her brother was dead. He looked her right in the eye as he pulled the trigger. She never even had a chance to try and stop him. He gave her a nod, and all she could think about was the conversation he had with her the week before. It all made sense. She promised her brother that if anything ever happened to him, that she’d take care of Allison. For the first time in so long, he told her how much he loved her, how proud he was of her, then kissed her forehead and walked away. She thought he was thinking about Victoria, and that’s what had prompted their little chat. She had no idea what he had been bitten.
Loosing Chris was hard for Kate. He was her big brother, the person that she could always count on, someone she’d take a bullet for. It drove her crazy knowing that he was gone, and it also pissed her off. She would have accepted him as a wolf, probably because she needed him, but he left her. He left her just like her left her alone with Gerard as a kid, and that hadn’t turned out well.
Now it was just Kate and Allison. The two of them living alone in her brother’s house. Kate had no idea what she was doing. Allison was a teenager, and Kate never thought she’d have kids, much less be raising a teenager. Everyday was a challenge, especially when the emotions of Chris and Victoria’s deaths were still raw.
It was late at night. Kate couldn’t sleep most nights, and tonight was no different. She heard footsteps coming down the hall as she sat on the couch curled up with her laptop, researching supernatural creatures. “Allison, is that you?”
