Theatre History Thursday. Better late than never. There’s a journal entry in The William and Mary Quarterly from July 1948 by Robert H Land called The First Wlliamsburg Theatre. Well, early American theatre did not take off as quickly as 18th century Europe. Have you been to Colonial Williamsburg? It was a favorite place to visit when the firstborn was younger. It would be cool to see if there’s any sign of it now. Working in the theatre and being a parent often appear to be life goals that contradict each other — or even prevent each other from happening. Veteran actors, writers and producers in the industry open up to Playbill.com about how they get by and what they hope will change.

If you are a theatre professional, eventually a number of questions surface about how to nurture and grow family alongside your work. Thankfully, this week Playbill published a longread on exactly this topic. I’m grateful they dedicated more than 500 words to the subject, but it still feels like we are just  scratching the surface.
