London Ephemeris Challenge No. 5 Completed! Westminster Dining.
Kyle asked me to find some suitable restaurant's for a party of 10 for his birthday dinner this Saturday night in Leicester Square/ Trafalgar Square area. The challenge? There are a couple of picky eaters.
Dining in this area mostly falls into the three categories: The Chain (Pizza Express, Byron Burger, Cafe Rouge et al), The Chinese (being so close to China Town) and The Expensive (The Ivy, The Corinthian etc.). Perhaps for large parties and picky eaters chains can be the easiest option but I thought I'd see what else was available beyond that.
Bedford and Strand - this popular basement 'bar, wine room and bistro' serves classic British and French dishes which means there should be something for everyone and plenty of space too.
Bedford and Strand, 1A Bedford St., WC2E 9HH
Wahaca - Mexican isn't everyone's cup of tea but it does have enough variety of flavour and simple ingredients to satisfy most taste buds. Wahaca is the best place to try Mexican for the first time. Wash your feast down with one of their tequila's.
Wahaca Covent Garden, 66 Chandos Place, WC2N 4HG
The Balcon - let's up the ante a bit. The Balcon is a grown up French restaurant with glamorous decor to match it's well reputed menu and chef. Definitely somewhere to book in advance, whether a small or large party.
The Balcon, 8 Pall Mall, SW1Y 5NG
Bocca di Lupo - who doesn't love Italian? And as far as trendy Italian restaurants with space go, this is perfect for larger gatherings. Bocca di Lupo is a little further north towards Soho but has a big reputation for freshness and variety of menu.
Bocca di Lupo, 12 Archer Street, W1D 7BB
Albannach - a Scottish restaurant with plenty of space right on Trafalgar Square. Just in case you missed out on Burns Night and need a whisky to prepare you for the birthday celebrations ahead.
Albannach, 66 Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5DS
