She's your typical outlaw gal that's doing her best to make a mend, independently. She's a Euro-Hispanic, with her father being European and her mother being Latin American.
She had been orphaned since she was little, due to a missionary attack, and then raised in an orphanage after being taken by her aunt (she couldn't support Lovette for child care.) Throughout her childhood, Lovette endured bullying, child laboring, and racism. At 12, during one of her labors, she didn't feel like she wanted this life anymore, so she became rebellious and stepped up to live alone in a world full of bloodshed and violence. Her first crime was pick-pocketing, and only that. However, she killed men who tried to assault her. Reasonable. It was for self-defense.
She likes the idea of having a job at a saloon as a server or a bartender, but not for prstitution. She's a girls girl, though. She's respectful in her fields. Now, she lives in an abandoned cabin she claimed for herself. She doesn't usually come home for long. She would only come home to the cabin every once in 3 months, or even once a year. She's often seen going out on camping alone with her horse, Haven (a white horse with black spots thoroughbred), and her weapons.
She's never been in a gang, but during winter, in her travels, she was suffering with hypothermia. Arthur and his group who found her camp went into her tent and found her cold and weak. In the faint of heart, Arthur tells the others to take her back to their camp and help her heal.
After getting her consciousness back, Lovette thanked the Van Der Linde gang and promised not to get herself into trouble again. Before she thought of leaving after her recovery, Dutch insisted her to join the gang and told her that they could provide her shelter, food and such, and protection. She didn't trust everyone in the gang all that much, since she doesn't know them, even though they helped her, but she was glad to accept the offer, in one condition if she feels alright and safe in the gang, she will stay. If she ain't feeling good at all, she'll leave, and never to associate with them ever again. Dutch agreed with her wish, and of course, he never wished her to leave---Dutch wants to use her survival skills and knowledge to help them with some of his 'great missions'. So, the whole gang makes a mend to make her feel at home. Her small posture seems to help a lot in robberies.
