Pineapple seller🍍This art work from the new calendar shows the reality of the struggling businesses in the Hutongs today, a bricked up shop trying to survive. I fear that the things I draw will soon be the things of the past. The kite master piece from my new calendar🎏This one is loosely based on an older gentleman I bought my kite from. He has a shop not far from Houhai✨For some reason kites feel like magic to me, especially when you go into the shop and they are displayed all over the place, hanging from the ceiling and on the walls🙆🏻This one was a hard one for me. On the last two pictures you can see the first drawing I did, but didn't like it and had to redraw the whole thing from the beginning🤦🏻♀️Over the years I learned to suck it up and start over, sometimes I'll do a sketch and it would take me 3-4 hours, but if I don't like it, I would just erase it all and start over🤷🏻It's not fun, but it's part of the process🎨
This is perhaps my favorite piece from the new calendar🚛(Rob is gonna say it's his idea, don't listen to him😂) I'm always amazed at how they stack everything up and nothing falls off😱There should be an art exhibition with just tricycles like these🙀If you're interested, the original art work is up for sale✨
The Christmas card illustration I did for Deutsche Botschaftsschule Peking, German Embassy School Beijing🎄It turned out very well. It's always nice to work with a client who trusts you🤝This made me miss the snow, even though, I don't really like snow. I would wanna go and fall down onto the crispy fresh snow, make some snow angels and lie there looking at the sky until you realize your clothes start to get wet from the snow melting beneath you ❄☃🌬🎄❤️
