The Boundary (Food Review)

Hey All,

Here with my 2nd food review. Enjoy!

ENVIRONMENT:

The Boundary is sort of a low-key jewel in the Wicker Park neighborhood, on weekdays & early morning weekends that is. It’s located at 1932 W. Division St. with plenty of free parking on adjacent streets (Wolcott and/or Honore) or paid parking right on Division. Might be better to Uber yourself to this spot. This place is a fancy bar environment with a huge bar selection & a bar that stretches from the entrance to almost the back doors. They just underwent a huge remodeling, so flat screen TV’s literally line the ceilings & walls. The cool thing about the TV’s is that they’re wired to the music system, so they play the music video for whatever song is playing. Not many bar/lounge/restaurants offer that. There is some standing room in the back for dancing & games, but one of their best features, like many places on the Wicker Park Division strip, is that when the weather warms up, they open the front windows or you can choose to dine on the outside front patio. Very dope!

SERVICE:

Now, this was my third trip there, twice with amazing service, but unfortunately having horrible service one of those times. Both times I went there for breakfast, I ate from their BRUNCH menu, once on the outside patio & the other time at the bar. Normally on Sunday mornings if you go before 10am, or at least within that time frame, the place can be relatively empty and quiet, which gets you a fast, more intimate experience with service. However, the one time I went there, I’d say a little after midnight, the place was filled, not exactly packed, but had drawn in a nice crowd, which left me & my company ignored for 60% of our experience. The drinks were somewhat disappointing, and we couldn’t get our waitress’ attention long enough to exchange our drinks, but the chips and guacamole were pretty good.

FOOD:

The majority of my food review for them will account for their breakfast food, being that I only had chips & guac in the night time. I got the Belgium waffle, which is covered in whipped cream & strawberries & raspberries, along with a little tin cup of hot syrup. The waffle is soft & when mixed with the taste of fresh berries, whipped cream, and syrup, it’s pure heaven. On the side, I got the Deuces Wild, which is bacon, eggs, toast, and hash browns (it comes with sausage, but I always sub that for more bacon). The bacon is NOT crispy, rather it’s soft and juicy, which may or may not make your delight, but I personally love it. The toast is soft & chewy, not hard & crunchy, which I love. My eggs were scrambled & a little runny. I liked my eggs, but there’s nothing special about them in comparison to the other sides. On this side plate, the MAJOR KEY ALERT is the hash browns! The hash browns are cooked just done, not burnt, & sprinkled with chopped onions and tomatoes. They are amazing! I’m convinced this place has the best hash browns I’ve ever had in the city thus far. If you go, go Sunday morning before 10am & get the Deuces Wild & visit hash brown heaven.

 I give The Boundary a 3/4.
