PHEW!
So, the past 24 hours have been pretty big. Here's the low-down: Friday night I drove up to Charlotte to be ready bright and early! I endured the line at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts because it was their 77th Anniversary and they were having a sweet(haha) deal! Turns out the Campus Pride office was coincidentally interested in having doughnuts, so I felt pretty important. I even got the 'right' kind for Bella and Rebby! Yay! Saturday morning, we all met up at CP secret headquarters and packed about three hundred million pieces of swag and luggage into a HUGE Budget truck (which I am SO thankful that we had - that was a LOT of stuff!) Then we ventured out on the 8 hour drive to Vanderbilt! The van ride there was so super chill, and I really appreciated it. Most everyone got in a nap, and Nikita is the most calm of drivers, even in really weird traffic, in which a lady cop drive up beside us in the 'sleepy stripes' and told us over her megaphone to "Make sure the gap was closed" between vehicles! We think she was looking for someone. Along the way, we stopped for lunch at good ole' Cracker Barrel, and it was the bomb.com, as usual. Except for the fact that Isabel bought them out of Nerd Ropes. I think we left around 10:30ish and finally arrived in Nashville at around 8pm EST. (There is a one hour time difference - we went back an hour.)
We checked into the hotel and went and had the nommiest of Mexican food for dinner, and then to be completely honest, I went back to my room and PASSED OUT. (It was around 11 our time, though, to be honest.) Then, bright and early this morning, we loaded our luggage back into the truck and made our final leg of our journey to arrive at the BEAUTIFUL Vanderbilt University! Home base is McTeiyre (sp? I'll check tomorrow.) and I have the coolest room at the very end of the building, so I have a nice view of the courtyard, and stuff. We unloaded the truck (for the final time, yay!) and knocked out packing swag bags for campers! It took us WAY less time than I thought it would, and it was awesome! At some point, we had lunch, and then we ORGANIZED THE ROOM FOR CHECK IN. I got to see all the beautiful shirts that The Change Project printed and I'm so excited to see so many of them in action! It was my favorite part, and now it's beautiful, and I can't wait for it to be utilized! Staff have been trickling in all day, and they're such great people! Slightly intimidated by all the smarts that are floating around, but I'll get used to it. Anyway, it's bedtime soon, so I think I'm going to dabble in some work and then hit the hay! Later, y'all! Thanks for reading! **There is a cafe on Vandy campus called Au Bon Pain, which is apparently very popular in major northern cities, and I think that while I'm here, I just might go broke. Which was the opposite of my intentions.
