My Son is Gay?

I want to send this video to every gay man I know.

It’s John Roberts from before Bob’s Burger as a mom having an existential crisis about her son being gay. The video ends with her warning, “HEY. Watch it. My son’s gay,” followed by Roberts brightly asking, “Who wants pancakes?”

Jackie and Debra

Jackie and Debra was my first early John Roberts video. One of my coworkers sent me this video because she fell in love with it and I have a second cousin once removed named Jackie and sometimes people get us mixed up.

Jackie and Debra chronicles the argument between Debra, played by Roberts, and Jackie. The video alternates between Roberts arguing with Jackie and explaining his argument with Jackie to a third party. In both cases Roberts is speaking to the camera thus making Jackie and Debra a monologue.

The writing is an excellent satire of "fights” between pre-teen and young girls with brilliant one liners such as, “She’s just jealous. That’s what my mom said.”

The Christmas Tree

The Christmas Tree is our reminder of why we don’t help our mothers decorate the Christmas tree.

From start to finish, viewers experience the roller coaster ride of getting the tree, decorating the tree, turning on the tree, cleaning up after the tree, and saying goodbye to the tree. You can expect the same intensity from Roberts’ performance as seen in Christmas Vacation, just picture Clark Griswold as a sassy gay man dressed as a woman.  "Why isn’t the tree on? Come on, turn on the tree, please, for me. Turn on the tree. And pick up all that shit.”
