Why Zuko?

Zuko was a favorite pick for this card! Death symbolizes the end of a journey and personal transformation. Reversed, Death points to resistance to that change. Zuko’s whole arc is wrapped up in these meanings, first his resistance to changing course from finding the Avatar, then his slow change and final redemption. Also, his edgy boy aesthetic fits, don’t you think?

Meet Kahma, the General of the Shin within the Cicnid Tribe. (For those who need a brush up on the headcannons, check out the info dump here)

Kahma, in his earlier days, was a fearsome warrior and a devout member of the Shin, as many were within the Tribe. Though not unique at the time, Kahma’s altruism for his kind was noted and highlighted when a mantis raider party trespassed on the outskirts of Cicnid territory. Kahma alone defended a group of lesser workers from said mantises. Though the act left a lasting story, it also ended Kahma’s career despite being considered too young to retire. The empress, seeing his value, allowed the hierarchy to be slightly skewed, repaying Kahma with an apprentice role with the still acting General over the Shin. In time, he did assume the title and was the last of the two generals before the Cicnid Tribe became extinct.

Though a legend, it was believed that Kahma, did not truly die along with his kind, but rather ascended with a mended body and new guise. However this is only a legend.
