Octopus Have Arms, Not Tentacles, And They're Delicious "Two-thirds of an octopus' neurons reside in its arms, not its head. As a result, the arms can problem-solve on their own." - Smithsonian Magazine, Ten Curious Facts About Octopuses ___ While the thought of eating "brains" is a little off-putting, in all honesty, when I took my first chew into the octopus arm at The Codfather I was in a happy place. At first, it's a little strange, somewhat chewy, then the flavours kick in and the smoky char-grilled nuances set in, at that point, it was over for me. ___ One thing about me, I'm going to try something new on a menu that I haven't had before. Especially if I'm paying. When someone else is footing the bill, I'm always inclined to go where I know the waters are warm. That way I'm not disappointed and the payer doesn't have to feel like their money has been wasted. ___ Back to the octopus arm. It's definitely worth the try. I don't recommend it to anyone who has not had squid or calamari or scallops before. It's certainly an experience for someone with an open-minded palate. ___ If you're in the Johannesburg area and looking to taste something new, try the octopus at @thecodfathersandton. I visited the one in Sandton Skye. ___ xoxo . . . . . #RENASCENCEmagazine #editorial #food #octopus #thecodfather #sandtonskye #foodie #instafood #foodgram #johannesburg (at The Codfather) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaKAApxq3YA/?utm_medium=tumblr
