To be honest, I was quite suprised by the quality of coffee in Reykjavík. This interesting cup of Ethiopia was enjoyed in Te & Kaffi, a micro roastery that has several coffee houses around the city. Not bad at all.

I was pretty preconceived about the coffee culture in Wien - fancy coffee houses with live pianists and well-dressed waiters, delicious cakes, crappy coffee. (And this we did experience at Café Central.) I was happy to discover that there IS also specialty coffee culture in Wien. Kaffemik was the only place we had time to visit, but oh boy, was it worth it. The coffee from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, was so superb, I had to ask for the barista’s Aeropress recipe and get the beans. Wien, I’m convinced.

Kaschk, Berlin Mitte. For someone like me this is the perfect place, on daytime you can get excellent coffee and later switch to a changing variety of craft beers. And the best part? A tasting board where you can choose a selection of four different beers to try out. (Well, this got a bit carried away, since this is supposed to be a coffee blog!)

Cafe Kokko, Helsinki. A place where you can be sure to get real good coffee in Helsinki - also, you might want to try some of the raw cakes or teas.

Less political was a great discovery in Hamburg! My expression must tell everything worth knowing.

The most amazing thing about Concierge Coffee is how small it can be. Really worth visiting!

My dear old Silo, where I accidentally ran into looking for a café that was in fact closed permanently. Great coffee, great atmosphere.

CK Berlin, a strong recommendation. Both filter coffee and espresso are great, and in the picture you can see some serious latte art going on!
