“I don’t consider my clothes self-expression, I think inside I’m actually quite a sad person. My clothes are about who I want to be. Style was a huge part of my coming out process - there’s no norms or expectations for non-binary people. No guidelines or image of what we’re supposed to look like. It started with a pair of Hokusai leggings and a new-found love for the color pink, and it just built up from there. In fact, most of my wardrobe is decorative leggings - they’re comfortable and fun, and spandex suits all weather conditions. Leggings are pretty much my defining look.Getting into fashion has been really liberating, and it’s helped my self-confidence a lot. No one’s ever said anything mean about it either, and often people approach me with complements. Fashion has become a pretty big part of my life now, and it makes me happier than I can really express. I’ve even been running a fashion blog and Instagram to show how affordable and easy my looks are. My main life goal is to show children who see me that growing up doesn't mean losing your love for fun clothes. I don’t care if I end up old and wrinkly while still dressing like a cartoon character, as long as I feel happy it doesn’t matter.”
