Sofia's accent and that of the American in her presence had been detected almost immediately within the coffee shop by the British bystanders, commented on for both by the barista as they stood next to one another in line at the Coffee Kanteen. No one there seemed capable of telling them apart, they were both distinctly American to them all, but Sofia knew a New York accent when she heard one and no doubt her latin California shift in consonants had been detected by the other.
Holding her coffee mug with the demisexual flag on it Sofia looked to the man, eyes running over him a few times. He looked like a New Yorker, and as New Yorker's were just British people with less fashion sense she bet he fit in within the town in ways the Californian did not.
"I can't believe that no one can hear a difference," she commented as she gave the barista her money, leaving more than was necessary since it was going to charity as most there were. "If only they knew what bad drivers you all are."
