The Current
A stronger current you will not find
As the deep dark eddy of the mind
And in his calm unyielding face
A snicker with his last embrace
The minutes grow to hours long
The moon she sings a wondrous song
The morning is forever gone
As night is holding back the dawn
The stars, they sing and dance around
The grass grows long upon the ground
The trees are growing to their own sound
And shadows cover my little town
A stronger current you will not find
Than the dark eddy that is the mind
And with his formidable last glance
He'll send your soul to endless trance
The moon is gone and night is dark
Each ray of light, a little spark
To toy with time and space forever
Would leave me endlessly no better
My soul it leaps to joy profound
As I see the beauty all around
I cannot sit and wait much longer
I can feel it growing stronger
A stronger current you will not find
As the boundless eddy of the mind
It goes deeper still the longer felt
And causes my dear heart to melt
I cannot say how long I'll last
I'll turn my back upon the past
And strive to live forever forward
As my soul's no longer tortured
And now the morning rushing fast
The colors back to clouds at last
The voyage done, my ship to shore
My soul shall wander evermore
Through this enchanted, vivid life
Till the end with no more strife
A stronger current you will not find
Than the deep cool eddy of the mind
And with his thoughtful last embrace
A loving smile will cross his face.
