Hairspray
Kid 1: Hey guys! Did you see the Corny Collins show yesterday?
Kid 2: No, what is it?
Kid 3: It's a show where teenagers dance and sing!
Kid 4: I really wish I could be on that show, it sounds great!
Kid 5: Yeah, I love to sing and dance!
Kid 6: And the kids on the show are so cool.
Kid 7: Why don't we join the show?
Kid 8: Because our parents won't let us.
Kid 9: Why not? What is so bad about singing and dancing?
Adult 1: You have to study for school.
Kid 1: But I want to have fun!
Adult 2: No fun allowed!
Adult 3: How will you go to college if you are having fun on TV?
Kid 2: Sometimes it is important to relax and have some fun with your friends.
Kid 3: Yeah! Being a teenager is about more than just getting good grades.
Adult 1: You are just kids!
Adult 2: We know what is best for you.
Kid 4: Why don't our parents ever listen to us?
Kid 5: Performing is what I love to do! You can't stop me from doing what I love!
Adult 3: You won't change our minds. Besides, you kids aren't good enough to get on that TV show anyways.
Kid 6: They can't just tell us what to do! If we want to dance, we should be able to dance.
Kid 1: And if we want to sing, we should be able to sing.
ALL: What if we show them our skills?
Kid 8: What do you mean? Perform for them?
Kid 9: Yeah! If they don't listen to us talk, maybe they will listen to us sing!
