This week on my show #Oregonlife we visit #BenLokuta and his life-long love of music. While in school Ben was a very active member of the #OregonSchoolDistrict music program, a founding member of the award-winning rock band #TheCuz (formerly #DistantCuzins ), a member of the #BlackStarDrumLine , the on-field drum set drummer for Madbrass, as well as a regular drum tech and member of the #ClydeStubblefield All-Star Band. This last item is particularly meaningful for Ben as he had the honor to learn from and play with the incomparable Clyde Stubblefield on stage. In 2017, Ben won the Clyde Stubblefield Inaugural Scholarship, the #HeidMusic Student of the Year Scholarship, and the #MadisonAreaMusicAssociation ( #MAMA ) Best Youth Drummer of the Year. Ben’s success was mirrored by successes with his other musical pursuits. Since graduating high school, Ben has continued to perform and record. He is furthering his musical acumen as a drum set performance major at #BerkleeCollegeofMusic in #Boston , the nation’s premier contemporary music college. Ben’s time at Berklee has served to strengthen his #songwriting and production skills and expand his musical collaborations while.
