"Why are you apologizing...?" he asked, for the upteenth time it seemed. He asked her that often. He noticed the lights in the hall way were slowly flickering off. The console room was dimming.
"I don't know anymore." she muttered quietly. He cradled her in his lap. He did his best to remain calm, brushing her blonde hair back out of her face. Watching the light of the bright blue eyes literally flicker out to a normal blue. His hand in her hair kept tensing.
"Will you be there...?" she asked softly as the gold flooded her vision for a second. "Since in theory...I am dying."
"Of course." he replied gently kissing her forehead.
"I'll be...cross if you aren't..." she mumbled, her eyes were fighting to stay open and the light had left them completely, the console was barely lit now, he could barely see her face. Her skin was getting cold, like he'd touched a cold metal surface.
"Darling."
"Yes, Az...?" she was struggling to breathe now. Words became sort.
"I'm sorry."
"...it's okay." she laughed, out of all the times to laugh. The ring of her laugh echoed in the empty space. "I broke my promise to you..." She rested a hand on his chest. "I said...forever." she her smile wavered. "I'm sorry..." she didn't even have the energy to cry.
