They collaborate with contemporary artists to create limited editions of artworks on the medium of skateboards to be hung on the wall, or you could totally skate on them if you wanted to... At LUMAS we share The Skateroom’s vision to make art available to the greater public. This collaboration brings new masters to the LUMAS portfolio. Through his work, the iconic pop up artist, Andy Warhol redefined the way we see the world by making the ordinary extraordinary. To perpetuate Andy Warhol’s vision, The Skateroom collaborates with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts to produce a series of Andy’s most iconic works. The Skateroom teamed up with the estate of naive artist Jean-Michel Basquiat to produce an edition of skateboards carrying some of his iconic paintings from the early eighties. Before Basquiat rose to become one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, his work had already been legendary on the streets of downtown NYC and continues to inspire new generations of graffiti artists to this day.
