✨ Don’t wait for life to happen. MAKE YOUR life happen.✨ • With the move to Colorado coming in TWO DAYS (holy moly) I’ve been talking a lot with Chris about choices and manifesting dreams. I sometimes say that I’m lucky to be where I am with my career or how I’m living, and I know I am fortunate with my health and family, but *luck* doesn’t really have too much to do with the rest. I worked damn hard to get to where I am. I was broke when I first moved to NYC. Like, eating other peoples’ leftover lunches at work broke 😅. I managed to go a whole year without buying toilet paper because I couldn’t afford it. Yes, you read right. A YEAR. I took rolls from work or snuck them into my purse at coffee shops. And before you judge, remember that girls use A LOT of TP😅. That stuff adds up$$! I also crashed on a friend’s couch (thank you @elasquith 🙏)while I saved enough to rent a space with roommates. It was all for the dream of surviving in the big city, art directing commercials and designing for top brands. It wasn’t until a few years later that I would start to seriously pursue my other passion: writing. I gave up many nights and lots of weekends while working a full time job to complete the first two books in #TheDreamlandSeries. Fast forward to now and I have the title of an award-winning author under my belt, am represented by a kick-ass literary agency, and am currently working on my 6th novel while being able to freelance art direct. • This isn’t to say that everything I’ve worked towards has paid off. Not at all. There’s been MANY failed projects and a completed book that will never see the light of day. But the point is, I still tried those things, and more importantly, kept (and keep) going despite them not working out. If you truly want something, you’ve got to work for it, over and over and over. Because, I promise, achieving your dream, and the dream after that, is worth every ounce of swept and tears. • So to anyone who has that goal, idea, invention, book, song, company, trip they secretly wish to come true, my advice to you is this: Start. Even if slowly, start. And don’t stop until you finish. MAKE your life happen🖤. (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuY1BuOg61m/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=17pvehhvhfpey
