This elegant costume was worn by Helena Bonham Carter as Lucy Honeychurch in the 1985 film 𝑨 𝑹𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝑽𝒊𝒆𝒘. Surprisingly, that’s not where it began its life!   Nearly a decade earlier, in 1976, it appeared in the television series 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑫𝒖𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕, worn by Juliet Waley as Sophie.   And going back further still to 1975, the costume was first seen on Sabina Franklyn as Philippa Gordon in the miniseries 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒗𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒆𝒂.   Find out where else this costume has been spotted at Bit.ly/VicEd110

This polka dot gown has a long history of being reused in different shows and movies over the years.   In 2012, the piece was worn by Lydia Wilson as Emily Fox Seton in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺.   The dress also appeared in an episode of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘶𝘬𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵 in 1976, worn by Gemma Jones as Louisa Trotter.   The gown’s debut was likely on Lee Remick as Jennie Churchill in 𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦: 𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘙𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘱𝘩 𝘊𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭 in 1974.   Find out where else this costume has been used: Bit.ly/VicEd193

Celia Imrie donned a truly unique Edwardian coat as Grace Rushton in the 2012 Julian Fellowe’s miniseries 𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒄.   The costume appeared in another Julian Fellowe’s production two years earlier when it was worn by Penelope Wilton as Isobel Crawley in the 2010 season of 𝑫𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒚.   Surprisingly, the piece has a much earlier origin!
