Loved the second book in Pat Barker's First World War era set Regeneration trilogy, The Eye In The Door - even better than the first one perhaps. The duality of the human lives presented is fascinating, riffing on the Jeckel & Hyde story. Whether it's focussing on father-son relationships, sexuality, memory/creation, pschology, patriotism and nationalism and pacifism and spying. Lots of looking. Observing. Being seen. Amazing writing. I feel it's a shame i have come upon her novels relatively late on.
