The Silmarillion I’ve started reading this again and finding it a lot easier this time around after reading The Fall of Gondolin. I think it’s because I now have some understanding of how everything started and where the Valar fit into the Tolkien world in relation to the more familiar Hobbit & Lord of the Rings stories. How and why some of the more familiar names, Sauron, came to be and what drove them. I’m going to persist with this now and the other separate stories. Mind blowing to think that Tolkien’s original writing for the Silmarillion was triple the volume of the final published book. Saving my pennies for Christopher Tolkien’s “The Complete History of Middle-earth: Boxed Set” I got quite a few new Tolkien books this Christmas. I will do a separate post at some point. #tolkien #jrrtolkien #christophertolkien #thesilmarillion #thefallofgondin #thehobbit #lordoftherings #book #greatreads #reading #author #books #booknerd #booklover #bookcommunity #bookaddict #booksbooksbooks #positivevibes #bookvibes #readingvibes #foodforthebrain #positivewaves #metalhobbit (at Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/steve120502/p/CX_TYXbIU85/?utm_medium=tumblr
