“Get out of my way, no one has time for the likes of you.”
“ ... you haven’t been standing there long, have you ... ? ” she’d found peace in the school library, trying to do research on a paper-- only when sherbet pink eyes raised above the pile of books did she dare take notice of the vampire. now, yui was only just starting to learn about the world around her. one thing that she definitely knew, however, was to not test the patience of the sakamakis.

this is an unfamiliar scene, so often she had come awake, sherbet eyes still dazed by sleep to find herself under the heavy army of a vampire. her room was really not her own, and it was often used as more of a transit center as the brothers came and went on their own timetables. ayato was the only one who made a habit of crawling into her bed at night, often under the guise of hunger. at least, she suspected as much, he didn’t often feed during those sleepy mid-morning hours, would simply fall asleep, breath cool against the back of her neck as he dozed.
now, as she crawled quietly into his bed, every fabric luxurious to the touch yui couldn’t help but to smile to herself. it was ludicrous to think that facing the rolling thunder shaking the windowpanes could be more terrifying than putting herself at the mercy of a vampire, even if that vampire was ayato. seriously, was she going crazy? but as the storm bared its teeth, thunder rolling in a lazy rumble across the sky she found herself slipping under the covers, cheek tucked between his shoulder blades as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“ayato-kun?” she asked softly, seeing if he was already awake thanks to her presence or if he had truly managed to sleep through her intrusion into his personal space. startled by a sudden strike of lightening that flashed ominous through the tops of the curtains, she muffled a yelp of fear, clinging to him tightly. who would have ever foreseen that a day would come when the big bad vampire was rendered less frightening than nature.
in all honesty, she had gotten used to the storms that traveled past the mansion, had even gotten used to how much louder the rain was as it echoed through rooms with high ceilings and large windows. it wouldn’t have even been a problem, if it weren’t for that dream. heart still thundering in her chest she sighed softly. “ayato-kun...you’re alright...aren’t you?” she asked, tone so unusual compared to her usual optimism. “it was a nightmare right? so why...”
“I wish I could save this forever.”

even now she is hesitant, careful lest her movements chase away the man and entice the beast back to the surface. yui has learned skills that no other mortal possesses. knows that any sweetness shown by this male is often times temporary. honey tempered by the piercing of fangs or sudden brash anger. difficult. but oddly rewarding. maybe she has finally lost her mind, but this little game has become so addictive.
her one-sided struggle to draw the humanity and innocence from those who as children were taught to value it so little. proof of the resilience possessed by the inherent good nature of most, that even with every effort made to snuff it out, it still resided there. burned in emerald green eyes so often set in calculated annoyance. gracefully tapered fingers raked slowly through red hair as soft as silk, brushing it away from the vampires forehead as a slight smile quirked her lips.
“should we then?” she no longer asks herself the silly question of when, or why, or how, instead she simple acknowledges the soft edge of fondness in her tone. that silly senseless affection. gives it a home in the back of her mind and away from those places in her head that had once screamed at the injustice of it all. god so rarely explained his grand design to those silly creatures he had created so flawed in design.
free from their pass through his hair she lightly trails warm fingers along the curve of his jaw, head cocked in curiosity. “though i don’t think you have to worry.” she adds gently. it wasn’t exactly as if she was in a rush to get anywhere else, and these odd run-ins had become so commonplace between them. it was a soft yawn that finally broke her gaze away from him, a gentle rub of her eyes. “i’m sleepy,” she confesses in a voice barely above a whisper. “are you staying?”

“That’s-!” Ayato didn’t know what to say, she was right, they were everything she said. But why dies she care? They’re friends with benefits, people who have sex for fun with no romantic feelings involved, so there’s no need to say things like that, is there?
“Why are you saying such things anyway?” He was confused, honestly he was.
Yui’s innocent sapphire pink eyes stared into his for a moment before she sighed, shaking her head lightly. Was there a point? It didn’t feel like, not anymore. Maybe when it had first started, maybe when they had first met, but anymore she had learned the hard way that her words often caused more problems than they solved. “I don’t know.” she breathed keeping her gaze away from his.
Because they lived in the same house? Why would that matter. Because sometimes she felt like maybe there was...something? Shaking her head, the blonde frowned. “Never mind.”

Blushing Lightly Yui nodded her head as he complied with her request, With a bright tint of red that stained her cheeks, the female leaned her head into Ayatos chest hugging him "Yes.. like that... " she said softly.
