Press release for the 1994 album by The Folk Implosion, Take A Look Inside..., issued by U.S. record label Communion.

At this point John Davis was mainly known to me for his lo-fi recordings for the lo-fi cassette label Shrimper Records. So I was intrigued when he teamed up with Lou Barlow from Sebadoh for The Folk Implosion.

This press releases is for the band’s first proper album, released in August 1994. It was a full year before those two tasted fame of a sort via their beat-and-sample heavy set of contributions to the soundtrack to breakout indie movie Kids.

Here’s my shot of Lou Barlow performing as the headliner at FYF Fest in 2012. Shooting from the pit is always easier but the sun was setting and that made it harder. Henry Rollins was over at the side of the stage writing. I suspect he was inspired to write because of the energy there that day.
