An Awkward Family Reunion
((Closed RP with theforgottenegg and hellofromthelegend.))
With her Aerial equipment removed and replaced by her more familiar Heavy-Arms equipment, Kiryu was able to move freely on the ground once again. A line of noisy, dusty jeeps sped down the coastal service road towards the Research Facility, the towering mech trudging slowly along in their wake. Two of the Management Committee Officers were already at the facility, discussing terms. The remainder, along with two Captains and two Lieutenants from the flight crew, and Field Operations Director Tsujimori, were just arriving.
"You must understand, Dr. Serizawa," said Commander Sekiguchi of the Management Committee, "an attack could come at any time. The enemies, and we believe there may be several, have been tracked to the highest levels of United Nations command. No one is to be trusted." His eyes were constantly darting to the sky and scanning the horizon, and he gave the impression that the Good Doctor was merely a distraction from these tasks.
By contrast, Commander Kishimoto stood straight and confidently. "Come, come now, Yoshinori. You make it sound as though we have a full-scale war on our hands."
"The U.N. attacked us!" exclaimed Sekiguchi, bringing his ignorance of Dr. Serizawa full circle, "Tsujimori and his crew barely escaped with their lives, and if they hadn't been there we'd all be dead!"
Even as Sekiguchi's panic grew all the more pronounced, Kishimoto's calmness escalated to compensate. "And they were there. We wouldn't be much of a Kiryu Squadron without our Kiryu there now, would we?" He turned back to Serizawa, a warm smile spread across his grey mustached lips. "Now Doctor, our orders were to come here and secure your Baby Bird for retrieval by the U.N. Of course, this seemed highly irregular to us, so we checked and found that it was indeed."
"We have to assume malicious intent on the part of whoever has infiltrated the U.N.," butted in Sekiguchi.
"Once the remainder of our commanding staff arrives, we would like to discuss the best possible defensive tactics to use if necessary, both on our part and yours, in the event of an assault. Ah, here they are now."
The commanders turned, and saluted the quartet of jeeps that was pulling around the fountain at the front of the facility. In the passenger seat of the third jeep, Captain Yashiro looked up at the approaching mech, and spoke into a radio. "Alright Sophie, that's good. Bring her to a stop there."
Overhead, the mountainous, wave-like silhouette of Kiryu stopped moving forward, and casually glanced around. This was where it was, definitely. The new presence was very close now. She could feel it.
Kishimoto turned back to Dr. Serizawa, and smiled brightly as the arriving crew departed their vehicles.
