Charley had been angry many times in her life. Many times, she had swallowed the anger and pushed it down. She’d been doing that a lot since the dead had risen and started to devour people right in front of her. Her husband. Her son. It had taken her a while but she’d opened herself up again. To him. To Shane Walsh.
And now, the world had tried to take him from her again. Had tried to leave her alone again.
She saw red after the walkers had all been taken down when she realized just how close it had been that he’d almost been bitten. Her hands were balled into tight fists as she began to beat them senselessly against the concrete wall of the factory they’d been holed up in for the past two months.
She ignored the initial pain and the blood as it began to trickle down between her clenched fingers. The only thing that stopped her was his arms as they went around her, forcing her arms to her side and pinning them until she gave in and fell to her knees. She turned in his arms, burying her face into his neck and shoulder.
“I’m so goddamn sick of losing people. I can’t lose you, Shane. I can’t.” She sobbed until her body was completely spent and went lax against him.
