what is Ethical Hacking ?
Ethical Hacking is the university course I’m studying.
In terms of what the course covers on a technical basis, it is hacking. For example, this is a short part of one of my module outlines for next year:
• ways in which to exploit simple security flaws (including active and passive sniffing, SQL attacks, Internet attacks, Google hacking, privilege escalation); • ways in which to scan networks and discover available services; • using root kits (including methods of exploitation using root kits, methods of planting a root kit); • using keystroke loggers; • Firewall and IDS evasion techniques; • utilising password cracking software; • techniques in which to install, use and hide trojans
So it is computer hacking on a technical level and I learn the exact techniques a regular hacker would use. My course also covers ethics though which are intended so that we “don’t go over to the darkside" so to speak.
Ethical Hackers are needed because software and websites need testing as well as large networks. An ethical hacker will be contracted to hack into something and they then give a report on what needs fixing and how they got in. This makes hackers with bad intentions less likely to be able to hack as most of their techniques have already been tested and something put in place to stop them.
Ethical hackers are also used by police and governments to either help defend their systems or target other systems.
Thank you for your question!

18: What do you consider a deal breaker?
Well, not being honest with each other. That’s the most important thing. And you need to be in love with each other, of course.
Thank you for asking, dear c:
