MARCH 25th-29th, 2015 in Downtown Boise, ID
We're SO EXCITED to announce...We will be playing at Treefort Music Fest 2015!
via Portland Mercury: Here's the exclusive premiere of Modern Kin's latest video from their recent Banana Stand session, a howling, thunderous take on "Abandon," the excellent opening track from their self-titled album released last year. (For more from that basement session in April, visit Banana Stand for the live album.) If you like what you see and hear, you will want to see and hear Modern Kin in the flesh when they perform at Mississippi Studios in two weeks' time: Thursday, November 20, with opening bands the Ghost Ease and Kithkin. Lucky for you, we're giving away a pair of tickets to the show! To enter to win, send an email to contest at portlandmercury dot com with "Send me to Modern Kin!" in the subject line. Please include your first and last name in the email. We'll select a winner at random and send him or her plus a guest to the show. This contest closes at 10 am on Tuesday, so enter now!
Tickets are now available for our string of shows next month in Portland, Seattle, and Everett! Following a busy festival summer, and fresh off of a US tour this September and October, Modern Kin is closing out the year with a few headlining shows in the NW. This promises to be a special weekend of music - we hope you'll join us as we stretch out a little and weave some new songs in between the album tracks you already know. FIN DE CINEMA A screening of: The Fruit of Paradise (Vera Chytilova, 1970) With live score composed and performed by: Fanno Creek Ben Darwish & Coco Columbia Murmur Ring (Jem from the Ghost Ease) Doors at 8:30, film begins promptly at 9. $7 day of show 21+ FIN DE CINEMA is our quarterly live film score series, re-imagining classic art films by pairing them with boundary-pushing local musicians. This edition focuses on our favorite era of film - the Czech New Wave, in all of its colorful psychedelic splendor. We're screening radical feminist director Vera Chytilova's far-out Adam & Eve tale from 1970, The Fruit of Paradise. We'll see the score lovingly reinvented by folk-rockers Fanno Creek, jazz / pop composer Ben Darwish (of Morning Ritual, Commotion and more) in collaboration with future-pop vocalist Coco Columbia, and sound artist Murmur Ring (aka Jem Marie of The Ghost Ease in her ambient / drone - leaning side project).
