Hey! This is probably a weird question, but do you have any advice for people like me; stuck in the dark ages with generic Paint? I don't have the money for a better program and really want to get into digital art.

Hi there, and thanks very much for your question! I apologize for the delayed response.

I’m going to assume you are referring to the program packed in with Windows, good ol’ MS Paint. I remember those days! Fortunately, there is a *very* fantastic alternative that is completely free to use and download. Check out GIMP. You can get it here. It is entirely open-source and is hailed by the Linux community as a viable alternative to Photoshop. I’ve used it and can say the same, at least for most digital art applications and basic manipulation. There are other free programs out there as well, but I’d say that GIMP is the way to go if you’re looking for a powerful, feature-rich, all-around alternative to one of the bigger programs out there, like Photoshop. It’s not perfect, and it can definitely take some getting used to (the UI is a little tricky, especially if you’re used to Photoshop), but there are countless tutorials out there to help get you started.
