The world seems a little bruised at the moment and my thoughts are with those effected by these horrible people who think they have the power to divide us, but in actual fact their actions only do the opposite and bring people, communities and countries more together. It was Jo Cox's anniversary a few days ago and her powerful words resonate so much with the world at this current time - ' While we celebrate our diversity, what surprises me time and time again as I travel around the constituency is that we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.' 💛 #Togetherness #TheGreatGetTogether #Equality
Day 101: A year ago we lost the utterly wonderful Jo Cox. A newly elected female labour MP, impassioned by social injustice who no doubt was going to shape the country into a fairer, more compassionate era. What her loved ones lost was a caring mother, wife and friend and in her honour they have set up the Jo Cox Foundation. In an act that was meant to silence her message of unity, peace and togetherness, we are urged by them to retaliate not with more hate, division or anger but by uniting in her honour and keeping up her fight for social justice and campaigning for the most vulnerable in our society and world. This weekend the foundation have planned ‘the great get together’, inviting communities to gather and share what they hold in common. They say "Jo’s killing was designed to divide us and we can think of no better response than an anniversary that brings us closer together to celebrate all that we have in common.’ Read about it and how you can get involved here http://bit.ly/2sDhXLM via our blog in the bio #jocox #thegreatgettogether #forthemanynotthefew
