I'm not up for existential questions this morning @discogs... White Boys - This Is Hardcore Is It Not? (1987) Where do I even start with this. First off, this is a real group originally from Lancaster, SC...so there's that. They are signed to the same label as The Fat Boys and Latin Rascals, so the name makes more sense...I mean they are white and young men, so call them White Boys. And they released this "Rockbox" rip off as their big single push...it did not work out at all. So how did I end up with this little gem? Skateboarding. So this group and label got the Bones Brigade guys and some other skaters from the emerging street scene...and some random BMX guys...to provide footage for the song's video (TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE) and then gave these copies of the 12" single to the skaters to throw out at contests. So, at the Savannah Slamma contest in 1987 I ended up with this treasure thrown by either Cab or Hosoi. I kept it for that reason alone. I actually had no idea it was more than a joke until I saw the jacket hanging on the wall at @voltagerecordsnc and then did an internet dive for info on it. And here's some more interesting things... -it is supposed to have a second song on side 2, but it doesn't. -the Dj ended up doing producing for The Beastie Boys, Nas, Mick Jagger, and Santana...and even ended up winning two Grammys. He now owns a freak show in Venice, CA. -at one time they were sponsored by both Swatch and Converse, so you know they were RAD. Do yourself a favor and listen to the short video clip I posted...and then quickly forget it and move on with your life. ✌🏻️ #fattyvinylsession #discogs #discogsshake #thegreatisolationof2022 #tobetterdays #vinylandcoffee #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylcollector #vinyljunkie #nowspinning #instavinyl #vinylporn #recordcollector #nowplaying #vinyligclub #ugh (at Chateau Ruff N Baker City Deux) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca9_LcTLVnO/?utm_medium=tumblr
