RIP Pat Conroy. The Water is Wide is my favorite Conroy book and the film did it nice justice. The themes in his books were never easy going fun "Southern" fare, I admire this so much. He left very intimate private moments on paper, laying bare family tensions, relationships between parents and children. He also had great advice for writers, much of it emphasizing using fiction to "work through the demons" AMEN. #patconroy #thegreatsantini #thelordsofdiscipline #thewateriswide #theprinceoftides #greatwriters #americanfiction
